Leading Investment Bank is currently hiring for an experienced technical accountant to join their growing London desk. This role has been created through an internal move and is an ideal opportunity for an accounting policy specialist to move into a role that has a strong mix of Advisory and accounting change responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Review accounting opinions on complex transactions to ensure compliance with Group accounting policies
- Formulate and recommend Group accounting policies, providing detailed practical guidance on policies
- Provide technical support on the implementation of new accounting standards to Finance and Business teams through the Subject Matter Expert groups
- Identify changes in external accounting, regulatory and legal disclosure requirements that will have an impact on the Group’s external financial reporting
- Provide support and guidance to the finance and risk management functions on technical issues
- Research the Group’s response to future accounting developments, writing public responses to new standards, exposure drafts and discussion papers
- Actively accumulate extensive and detailed knowledge of IFRS and other requirements, and be a source of expert advice to business and finance management around the Group.
Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post qualified experience
- Strong technical accounting/accounting policy experience gained in Investment Banking or Financial Services Advisory role within practice.
- Extensive technical knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards across Financial Services
- Excellent knowledge of Financial Instruments such as derivatives
- Strong academic background – minimum 2:1 degree from a leading university.
- Proven experience of implementing process changes within an similar role
This role has daily interaction with key stakeholders and it is therefore essential you have strong interpersonal skills. The position offers realistic progression including a path into the Head of Accounting Policy position in the future.
