Job Description

A global and trusted name in insurance has an attractive new opening for an Accounting Production Functional Lead. 

They are currently in the midst of transforming several end to end processes within their finance function through the use of new technologies. Part of this transformation project includes the acceleration of the working day timetable for external reporting in order to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of Solvency II, as well as the implementation of IFRS 17 in 2021. 

The Accounting Production Functional Lead will lead the transformation of the accounting processes all the way from data capture through to the ledger close, as well as the production of other accounting information used in the financial reporting processes. This individual will also be tasked with the provision of the business requirements for new technology solutions. 

Key responsibilities as follows: 

  • Own the design and implementation of accounting production processes encompassing all relevant business, regulatory and technical requirements 
  • Determine and assess new technology to be used in the financial reporting processes 
  • Define the business requirements for inputs to accounting processes - design detailed journal entries to record business events 
  • Lead in the design, development and implementation of the reconciliation processes between data sources and the general ledger 
  • Own the implementation of best practice accounting close process and the necessary internal controls 
  • Responsible for ensuring the accounting production processes operate effectively through the programme transition phase 
  • Partner with and advise other functional leads across the programme of relevant regulatory and legislative frameworks that could impact their delivery 
  • Lead the accounting production team 

The successful applicant will closely match the following description: 

  • ACA Qualified Accountant 
  • Big 4 audit foundation 
  • Vast knowledge of Solvency II, GAAP and IFRS 
  • Vast knowledge of finance systems, processes (general ledger and sub ledger close) and controls 
  • Extensive knowledge of financial services regulator and legislator frameworks 
  • Solid project/programme management experience 
  • Team leadership qualities
