Role Summary

The Corporate Services Category Lead role, reporting in to the Chief Procurement & Property Officer, is a member of the Procurement SMT and is responsible for structuring and managing Procurement's business relationships across all global non IT/FM related expenditure. This includes the main categories of; HR (Recruitment/Training/Benefits), Professional Services (Legal/Insurance/Audit/Non IT Consultancies), Production Print, Mail, Marketing & Travel. This will include ensuring effective procurement support in the management of circa £75m of mature annual spend.

The role holder will be required to develop effective commercial strategies, manage complex group wide strategic sourcing events /projects (including outsourcing), negotiate contracts, develop, and implement post contract Supplier Relationship Management practices for key strategic suppliers and for Travel be the global end to end process/service owner. The role will also include matrix management of offshore resources supporting the category and an onshore Travel Manger.

In addition to the Corporate Services Category Lead the successful candidate will be required to support the team in transforming Equiniti's procurement function through the design and implementation of improved procurement processes, systems and performance management. This will result in generating increased value for the business, such as cost savings and improved supplier performance.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing innovative commercial plans in conjunction with the business that deliver significant value
  • Support with acquisition due diligence, post-acquisition integration and also cost synergy delivery related to their category
  • Significantly contribute to the annual savings target through delivery of category strategies
  • Drive the development and execution of supplier strategies aligned with the business and functional objectives and targets
  • Supporting the business owners in managing effective post-contract Supplier Relationship Management of key suppliers or where Procurement is the business owner (travel) implement them directly
  • Operational management of Travel. Ensure key SLA's are met and drive continuous improvement to ensure service is fit for purpose and compliance is high
  • Lead strategic sourcing events and complex high profile group wide projects to deliver the best possible service for Equiniti and its stakeholders
  • To support (or lead) the business with contract reviews and be able to advise on key contract clauses and issues
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships across the Equiniti organisation, to ensure that procurement can partner with the relevant service owners to select and manage the right suppliers to meet their needs

  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment, prioritising effectively and focusing on what is really important
  • Experience of working with shared service centres and leading in a matrix organisation
  • Great customer service ethos, responding quickly and clearly to stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Good people leader with proven track record of developing capability on and offshore
  • Strong Project Management skills and experience of leading high profile group wide projects
  • Good application of category management, with evidence of running categories through the full category management life cycle
  • Service management experience and evidence on how to drive excellence
  • Proven track record of dealing with senior C-Level Stakeholders i.e. CPO/CIO/CFO. Ability to present information in a clear and concise way
  • Interest and understanding of the latest category developments and emerging suppliers
  • Proven track record of delivering extensive and sustainable cost savings
  • Strong private sector experience
  • Ideally experience of working in Financial or Fin Tech/Technology related organisation
  • Excellent commercial acumen, understand and challenge commercial models to fit with business needs
  • High emotional intelligence and a true team player with hands on approach to delivering work
  • Record of leading cross-functional project teams with high visibility and impact
  • Detailed understanding of procurement processes and systems
  • Excellent in contract interpretation and risk identification and mitigation
  • Strong record of successful strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management practices in complex organisations
  • Excellent analytical skills, comfortable using fact-based analysis to support business decision making
  • Capacity to engage with strategic issues and work alongside senior stakeholders to develop pragmatic plans of action which are aligned with their business needs
