Job Description

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the current privacy data protection laws and the creation of frameworks to safeguard the use of private data and the quality standards applied to that data for the provision of internal and external data services.

The Data Privacy Manager role will be key to achieving the vision and supporting the operational integration of:

  • Ensuring our data is governed to the highest of standards and processed in line with international regulation and applicable local law is not only essential to the way we operate and make informed decisions
  • Good data governance including performance oversight, capital setting, meeting tax & regulatory needs, maintaining HR statistics, recording IT asset through to raising invoices
  • Data orientated Shared Services to focus on operational and transaction based activities including market data collection, aggregation, analytics and Business Intelligence and Management Information reporting and integrate related 'shadow' activities across the organisation
  • Data orientated Centre of Excellence to focus on specialist areas including high-end data analytics/insights, data innovation capability, data and service sourcing, education and talent development
  • Deliver improved operating effectiveness including expediting data related service provision & product development and consistent data governance
  • Achieving cost efficiencies in targeted areas e.g. rationalised BI activity, improved efficiency through automation, improved procurement of data (removal of duplication and/or unnecessary procurement) and consideration of outsourcing opportunities
  • Further developing the governance model for Data, integrated with the wider governance model

Key responsibilities include -

  • Implementation of data privacy and security processes
  • Privacy focused reviews of new projects and to promote awareness of privacy standards and requirements
  • Ensures a compliance program is designed incorporating all lines of defence with features such as: Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), regular audits, policy reviews and updates, and training and awareness-raising programs
  • Design, develop and deliver data privacy and security training programmes
  • Educating third parties on group privacy requirements
  • Measuring and tracking privacy activity and communicating privacy status
  • Working with Risk & Legal to maintain the requisite understanding and awareness of current and future regulations
  • Informs and advises all related entities and their employees of obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws
  • Responds to individuals whose data is processed (via subject access requests)
  • Fosters a data protection culture implementing essential elements of current protection laws such as GDPR
  • Works with Procurement to audit supplier arrangements and update template and procurement contracts to reflect the regulatory privacy data processor obligations

Experience & Knowledge required -

  • Expertise in national, European and International data protection laws and practices and in-depth understanding of the GDPR
  • Substantial experience within Data compliance such as EU GDPR and worldwide data protection regulation, law and practices.
  • Operational aspects of data protection including privacy practices such as impact assessments, handling data subject's requests, employee monitoring, vendor contracts and breach management
  • Demonstrable track record of working with Information Governance frameworks
  • Provide strategic frameworks, leadership and enforcement in best practice information governance for privacy needs
  • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Build relationships with and influence senior stakeholders
  • Understand and work across a matrix management structure and achieve results
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Operate strategically as well as focus on the detail
  • Work in a structured way and under minimum supervision
  • Highly organised with excellent project management skills
