What you'll be going:

You will be joining a team embarking on a completely refreshed domain model for 2019. Their technology is at the heart of their business model, and is something they're passionate about staying ahead of the curve on, with continuous investment in that area. Over the last 7 years they have re-platformed several times and are in the process of doing so again.

They keep the time spent in meetings minimal, and a Kanban approach allows for a continuous hands-on delivery!

Typical responsibilities:

  • Build Tooling and API's in Java or Python, to enable developers to automate, configure and deploy more efficiently within a microservice based architecture.
  • Develop Infrastructure as code following the same quality focused software delivery practices as the rest of the tech team including pair programming, code reviews, test coverage where and whenever possible.
  • Ensure best practice across multiple AWS accounts and regions. They use IAM, EC2, VPC, ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, Route53, RDS, ELB/ALB, ASG/LC, EKS.
  • Working with configuration management tools (Puppet or equivalent) to create stable, testable and repeatable infrastructure as code
  • Continuous security monitoring, review and improvement across all Cloud infrastructure.
  • Evolve current in house deployment infrastructure while being mindful of longer term objectives.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD build tools and pipelines.
  • Play a key role in the selection process of future platform architectures (Containerisation and/or FaaS. (Docker and AWS Lambda). Scheduling frameworks such as Kubernetes or other, and advanced service discovery (LinkerD, Envoy or Istio).

You'll be working alongside a collaborative bunch of approachable developers. Collectively they share many years of expertise and a broad range of knowledge across any domains. None of the team have a background within the insurance market, and you won't need that either. Their team are a longstanding one, which is testament to what it's like to work here.

What they need from you:

Are you passionate about DevOps? Are you excited by building a new toolset using the latest container and serverless technologies? If it's a yes to all of those questions, then we want to talk to you!

  • Experience in working with Cloud based infrastructure is a requirement.
  • Ideally, you will have worked on AWS with exposure to some of the following: IAM, EC2, VPC, ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, Route53, RDS, ELB/ALB, ASG/LC, EKS.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
  • Understanding of how dynamic secrets management fits into securing microservice based architectures. Vault experience useful but not required.
  • Experience or eagerness to learn is container technologies.
