Job Description

Private equity backed recruitment group operating across a number of specialisms and markets in the UK is looking to appoint a commercially minded Finance Director to a hands on and business-facing role. With significant investment capital and plans to continue growing via acquisitions, this is a superb opportunity to join the business, with the remit of professionalising and upskilling the finance set-up and putting in place best practice, alongside supporting the CEO with acquisition and integration work.

Day to day this is an end to end role, focusing on all aspects of accounting and reporting for the group, from management and financial accounts to budgeting and forecasting, cash management, tax/VAT, payroll as well as regular and ad hoc MI reporting to the private equity backers; essentially everything and anything. Whilst not totally starting from scratch the current set up needs improving and reflects an owner managed business that's in the process of scaling up and professionalising. You'll be supported by a small finance team and need to be happy and comfortable being in the detail and operational, as well as high level and strategic. Longer term this role will undoubtedly grow in scope and get involved in any acquisitions or re-structures the group undertakes, providing plenty of opportunity to fine tune your commercial FD/CFO credentials.

In terms of background we're looking for a qualified accountant (essential) who is probably around the 8 to 10 years post qualified mark or equivalent. Ideally you'll be coming from the recruitment or business services sector, with experience in a small to medium sized company essential given the need for hands on end to end experiences across everything in finance. Any prior experience of supporting a change agenda at a PE backed business would be a distinct advantage. Strong people skills go without saying given this role will work directly with the CEO, Board and private equity firm as their trusted advisor.

Salary on offer is £100-120k base (DOE) plus benefits and bonus. The company supports flexible working and is based in central London with the expectation that you're in the office at least 3 days a week.
