A boutique Venture Capital Fund is looking to appoint a Finance Manager into a newly created position, coming in as a number two in finance to the Chief Financial Officer.

The firm invests in early stage tech startups and has recently raised its third fund. As a result, the firm is expanding its finance and operations team with a new hire that will work directly with the CFO in a small team of two.

The day to day will vary and change over time to include more forward-facing and value add areas.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Oversight of the fund administrators and ensuring all externally produced fund accounting is timely and accurate
  • Portfolio monitoring and valuations
  • Managing fund cash flows
  • Assisting with the year end audit process for the funds
  • Ad hoc investor queries
  • Supporting with projects - especially around areas like automation

Culture is entrepreneurial and individuals are strongly encouraged to put forward ideas. Moreover, given the boutique nature of the firm, there is a closely-knit and family feel and the firm do regular socials and biannual holidays. Flexible working is also on offer and most people head in around three days a week.

Our ideal candidate will be a recently qualified accountant (or equivalent) coming from either an accountancy practice (this can be Big 4 or a smaller outfit) and looking to make the first move into industry. Ideally, you'll have worked with investment management clients and will have audited closed-end fund structures, however, this is not essential.

On offer, is a basic salary in the region of £55,000-60,000 with a bonus on top targeted in the 25-30% region.
