A broad, commercial and business-facing Financial Controller opportunity at a diversified financial services boutique with interests across private equity, property and tech. Owing to growth they're seeking to appoint a financial controller to oversee the corporate side of their business, which is a complex and eclectic mix of business interests in the above sectors. The company are going through a period of change and this role would suit someone comfortable in a hands-on role with far reaching responsibilities, with longer term potential to evolve into a more senior position.
Day to day you'll be responsible for all accounting, reporting and analysis for a large collection of businesses that the fund invests into or owns outright, from start-ups through to more established SME companies operating in a myriad of sectors. There are a couple of junior accountants in the team who cover all transactional work, book keeping, month end etc with this role focused on the review, consolidation and oversight for all deliverables; you're the face of the business so to speak and would be the main point of contact for the business and front office, as well as external parties. We need someone smart, switched on, keen to shake things up and with a positive mindset. They key thing to mention is that this portfolio consists of lots of moving parts and strong attention to detail is absolutely crucial. On top of the reporting, there would inevitably involvement in lots of ad hoc analysis and supporting the FD on project work.
This role would probably suit someone around the 3 to 5 years post qualified mark or similar, looking to move into their first Financial Controller position. A strong academic background is essential in addition to formal accounting qualifications - ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CPA or equivalent. Industry experience is not important although the preference would be for someone who's worked in a SME organisation in commerce and industry, professional services or financial services.
