A prominent name in the Insurance world is actively recruiting a Financial Controller to manage the finances for their UK and Europe business. Reporting to the Group CFO, this post has a heavier emphasis on FP&A and finance business partnering, but there will also be the need to oversee financial and regulatory reporting requirements (with the help of 2 direct reports). The Financial Controller is expected to deputise for the CFO on UK & Europe related activities as and when required.

Role overview

The Financial Controller is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of financial and management accounting processes, forecasting, budgeting and business planning activities, regulatory reporting, and CASS management. Working within a small finance team, the position involves extensive collaboration with colleagues in London (including Business Leaders, COO, Group Finance, Compliance, Board of Directors, Broking committees) as well as the shared services provider in Asia. Through the use of accounting software, the position entails gathering, analysing and presenting financial data in a commercial manner to the Business Leaders in order to support the achievement of targets. 

In addition to the above the role will also assist in the delivery of projects related to improved financial controls and technical updates.

About the successful applicant

To be considered for this position you will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), and have a solid background of working within the insurance sector (preferably insurance broking but not essential). This role will have a much stronger FP&A focus than regulatory reporting, however experience of and a willingness to oversee both areas is essential. Strong business partnering capabilities and a strong commercial acumen are critical for this hire.
