Job Description

A highly commercial role suited to someone from a commercial finance AND financial modelling background who's worked in or with alternative asset managers.

The fund themselves are a fast-growing manager with £3bn in AUM across a range of UK and European strategies in core private credit markets alongside NPLs and other illiquid assets. They have absolutely killed it over the last few years and grown the business steadily to its current headcount of just over 50.

The role will be responsible for all aspects of financial planning and analysis to support the senior management team in the ongoing management both the management entities and fund, with significant focus on financial modelling as well as providing analytical and transactional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CFO and wider finance team to build/maintain integrated financial models for ongoing budgeting and financial planning
  • Perform various scenario and sensitivity analysis to drive strategic decisions, including but not limited to financing analysis (e.g. refinancing, bond buyback), investment analysis (e.g. investment asset types, countries), potential M&A opportunities etc
  • Maintenance and ongoing development of company business models to analyse key value drivers, projected performance/cash flow and valuation
  • Portfolio valuation on a quarterly basis to assess the impact of each individual portfolio as well as the impact at the Company level
  • Responsible for preparing annual budget and monthly reforecast using integrated business model
  • Manage a qualified accountant (Analyst level) and internal/external data analysts
  • Monitor and assist in the preparation of board and investor reports
  • Maintain and provide financial model for rating agencies
  • Financial modelling, analysis and review of potential portfolio and company acquisitions to support investment proposals and valuation
  • Assist in the design of dashboard and KPI reports to enhance financial performance, operational efficiency and profitability
  • Building of models to automate monthly processes including leverage models, cash collection and internal reporting
  • Other ad hoc work including but not limited to corporate restructuring, supporting subsidiaries' CEOs to produce Business Plan forecasts, support Data Team to automate processes
  • Other ad hoc modelling related requests

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACA, CFA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and valuation methodologies
  • Excellent Excel skills, experience of building complex financial models in Excel from scratch
  • Experience of using SQL and building Excel models with a live connection to SQL server that keeps spreadsheet data fresh
  • Applied knowledge/experience building bespoke financial models in FI and/or asset-based finance, investment analysis, company valuation and structured finance
  • Analytical, methodical and highly numerate
  • Strong, clear and precise verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven, quality and results-oriented with an ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • Reliable, determined, hard-working and ambitious
