Global Consultancy is currently hiring for a Head of Finance to join one of their clients who are a newly formed international speciality and reinsurer based in London. This role will be responsible for finance operations oversight and accountability and the implementation and management of rigorous processes and approved internal controls to ensure the complete, accurate and timely processing of transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Management and supervision of the onshore (12) and offshore (30) Finance team to support the client's finance operations (including Tax, treasury, expense management, investment, regulatory and financial reporting requirements).
  • Monitor Finance calendar (ME/QE/YE) and coordinate with respective onshore and offshore team members for timely/ accurate delivery
  • Review of all reconciliations and journal postings (technical/ non-technical) for accurate and timely submission (where required)
  • Review of Management accounts, GAAP and Statutory reporting of financial statements to meet internal/ external requirements
  • Responsible for the effectiveness of the reporting processes, ensuring that key controls are in place and are operational, including account reconciliation procedures.
  • Review of all IPT returns with Tax SME for accurate and timely submission
  • Review of all Investment Accounting activities for accurate and timely submission
  • Work closely with client Financial Controller to deliver client priorities
  • Familiarity with technical accounting and reserving (IBNR, UPR, DAC etc)
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Actuarial, Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Internal Audit, Underwriting Operations and Group ensuring effective management of data flows.

Requirements:

- Qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA) or relevant accounting qualification

- Extensive Insurance industry in London Market P&C and Speciality Insurance

- Strong Insurance and Re-insurance technical accounting knowledge (carrier side)

- Proven Knowledge of US/ UK GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements

- Extensive experience in managing and developing a team.

- Able to clearly present quantitative information to all levels of management and the Board of Directors and effectively interact and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse workforce in multiple countries
