Head of Finance - Insurance - Italian speaking

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-known global general insurer in a divisional head of finance role that is newly created due to growth. With proud European heritage dating back 200 years, this is a top tier organisation with operations globally across most lines of general insurance. This role would suit someone with more of a management reporting/FP&A background with experience in the insurance sector who is also a fluent Italian speaker. Currently there is no UK finance support for the division with the need for someone who can set up and establish best practice.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide financial validation of the quarterly and annual income and P&L statements
  • Coordinate all management reporting information for head office
  • Oversight of the quarterly forecast, annual and 3 year rolling business plan
  • Liaise with head office for all required risk based financial indicators, capital and solvency calculations
  • Manage the monthly expense report and budget
  • Key point of contact for offshore financial control and finance shared services teams; sign off on core month end and quarter end numbers
  • Management of a small finance team (the role will be stand along initially)

Your background:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA, ACMA, CPA or equivalent) with a background in the insurance sector preferred although we would also consider candidates from other financial services industries like banking and asset management
  • Fluency in Italian would be a massive bonus
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple deadlines in a fast paced start-up operation
  • Ability to manage demanding requirements from multiple internal stakeholders and produce high quality, reliable reports and management information
  • Professional credibility to effectively challenge senior management on financial targets, achievements and metrics
  • Focus on delivery of results through personal effectiveness, problem solving & decision making
  • Strong commercial acumen
