Job Description

A leading international insurance brokerage business is looking to appoint a regional head of finance to be based in Singapore, which is their Asia Pacific regional headquarters. This is a newly created role due to business growth, and the Asia business has grown significantly over the past few years.

As the Head of Finance, you will support the COO by taking full ownership of all finance matters.  You will be an individual contributor whose role will have a strong focus on business partnering, business planning and risk & compliance, with controlling support provided by the global shared services team.

Key duties and responsibilities:
Forecasting, Budgeting and Business Planning
Manage the forecasting, budgeting and planning capabilities and improve the visibility of divisional trading performance. 

  • Maintain budget data and 3 year plan data
  • Preparation of final reports and commentaries for senior managers
  • Preparation of company forecasts by division
  • Provide commercial insight on reporting packs to Divisional leaders
  • Balance sheet analysis and preparation for budgets and forecasts
  • Utilisation of renewal and pipeline data for forecasts, budgets and management information
  • Aid strategic planning
  • Aid M&A activity (target, DD, valuation etc.)

Financial and Regulatory Reporting

  • Manage the financial reporting processes by reviewing financial reporting and management information to enhance its value to stakeholders

Management Accounting

  • Produce and report on monthly management accounts
  • Approval and submission of the management accounts
  • Review, analysis and commentary of monthly management accounts

Control Framework

  • To improve the control framework over the preparation, reconciliation and review of all output prior to submission

Projects

  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting as required by stakeholders
  • Oversight of financial controls of the to be implemented operating system (broking)
  • Technical updates (e.g. IFRS15) with changes to policies and procedures to reflect these

The successful applicant will possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Insurance industry experience, preferably with some brokerage experience 
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Happy to be hands on and roll sleeves up, in return you will benefit from full autonomy
  • Proven business partnering capabilities
  • Ability and willingness to travel
