An exciting and exclusive opportunity has arisen for a Head of it & Operational Risk to join a Global insurer based in the City.

Joining an innovative and exciting start-up insurer the incumbent will work alongside the Group CRO in a newly created position. You will be part of a growing senior leadership team.

You will be responsible for leading the Group Operational and IT Risk Framework delivery, ensuring a strong risk framework is well embedded and implemented within the business, providing robust challenge over the business and the outsourcing arrangements.

Your role will primarily be responsible for:

  • Lead on the company's Operational Risk strategy and framework including developing operational risk appetite, risk indicators and the Group's operational resilience
  • Challenge and contribute to the development of short, medium and long-term strategies (including action plans and targets) for the operational risk function, in line with the defined vision, mission, risk appetite and objectives of the business
  • Develop and embed an IT and cyber risk framework to provide robust challenge and oversight to the business and its IT infrastructures.
  • Provide effective leadership in delivering the operational risk function's key obligations and initiatives in line with the insurer's leadership principles and values.
  • Monitor and report on the region's technology risks against the relevant risk appetite statements.
  • Conduct readiness reviews over procurement / third party management projects ensuring appropriate project methodologies are being applied and followed.

Experience & Qualification

  • Strong capability in strategic thinking developing solutions and effective business planning
  • Experience of UK Insurance and outsourced business models
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to package and present ideas and gain agreement at a senior management level.
  • Expert knowledge of Third Party Management (including Cloud providers) and Procurement processes and controls.
  • Recognised Technology and/or Risk certification (e.g. CRISC, CIA)
