Job Description

This is a senior role managing and leading a Motor book of business at a large Insurance company. You will be required to make underwriting and pricing decisions in relation to an £80m portfolio of private motor business. 

The main focus of the role will be to grow the portfolio profitably whilst working closely with actuarial, finance and claims teams to understand the underlying performance trends of the line of business. The book of business has gone through a remediation process and the main tasks will be looking at new distribution and processes that will further enhance profitability. 

The job holder will manage 9 employees in underwriting, sales and distribution and will set the pricing strategy for the line of business, including leading innovation in terms of data enrichment, analytics and rate deployment techniques. 

The job holder will need to be numerate with a good understanding of pricing so that actuarial decisions can be challenged when needed. 

Good communication skills are essential to communicate to the board and to external brokers. 

The successful candidate will need to be able to provide previous evidence of growing or managing a profitable portfolio of business from a previous recent role.
