This international specialty re/insurance business are going through a period of substantial growth, and are currently looking to appoint a Head of Technical Accounting with both London market company and Lloyd's syndicate experience. They will have a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, and will report to the Financial Controller.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the technical accounting process for the London market company, Lloyd's syndicate and European operations
- Interact with Reserving to ensure accurate data is included in the reserve study and ultimates are correctly accounted for
- Analytical review of the technical result and working closely with FC and CFO to develop management information / commentary for senior management team of quarterly results by line of business and segment
- Work with the ceded accounting team in order to provide support on ceded data flows / reconciliation / analytical review of results
- Offer technical accounting guidance to team members and other functions as necessary
- Data analysis and recommendations for commutations and novations
- Manage and mentor a team of Qualified Accountants accounting professionals
- Work with IT regarding system flows to ensure data integrity for all aspects of technical accounting
- Offer additional analysis on technical results for corporate reporting purposes
- Key player in the ongoing roll out of new systems and process improvements
- Interact closely with the Global Technical Accounting Lead to ensure consistent processes and procedures globally
- Enhance internal controls to enable accurate reporting and reconciliation
- Partner with Reserving, Ceded Re and Business Services teams ensuring data is available, accurate and deleivered on time
- Continuous process improvement initiatives
- Advise on the impacts of FX in the technical accounting process
- Drive projects that have a direct impact on technical accounting
- Contribute to the update of accounting manuals and implementation of new accounting standards and manage the embedding of the changes
Desired skills & experience
- Qualified Accountant with circa 10 years PQE
- Proven technical accounting experience in the London company and Lloyd's market
- IFRS and US GAAP knowledge
- Ceded reinsurance accounting knowledge - Essential
- Process improvement experience
