As Head of Underwriting for Marine your role will be to manage and lead assigned underwriting units, usually comprised of a large region or for a line of business, to aid in making appropriate underwriting decisions. The business writes Insurance for Marine pleasure craft on a scheme basis and via direct channels and is UK focussed.
You will be managing the new and/or renewal business for a large region or for a line of business, underwriting and analysing business within delegated authority levels, develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance-related needs and provide solutions.
The role will require advanced and in-depth knowledge of products and line/s of business (Marine Insurance knowledge is essential) plus excellent managerial, team building, and organisational skills. Leadership is a key part of this role with 5 direct reports.
