NOTE: THIS IS 100% NIGHT SHIFT WITH NO DAY SHIFT. 

My client, a high performing financial settlements software house based in Canary Wharf are looking for an individual to join them on a permanent basis as an Infrastructure Support Analyst. This role is a pure night shift position due to the settlements and swaps applications running on ECT meaning a support function must run throughout the night. This role is ideal for an individual who is looking to be a part of a high performing FX software business with a cutting edge technology and long list of projects coming up in the future that will set them aside from competitors. 

The successful individual will be brought into the team to provide 2nd line operational shift support for the enterprise internal Linux/UNIX infrastructure and systems in the 24/7 hosted environment. You will be required to take ownership of the problems through to resolutions and have strong expertise in a variety of business critical technologies. 

Key responsibilities: 

- Provide operational shift support for the production Linux environments with Symantec clustering technology. 
- Including Linux backups/restores, daily checks, maintenance, building new systems and applying service packs. 
- Provide on call 24/7 support on a rotational shift basis. 
- Manage and escalate problems as appropriate. 
- Ensure that BAU service is prioritised and all incidents, problems and service requests are responded to. 
- Participate in regular disaster recovery testing activities. 
- Maintain and support the enterprise production Linux service domain, VMware environment and datacentre server hardware infrastructure. 
- Upgrade and maintain software at a time when the impact to the business is minimised. 
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly system checks. 

Key skills required: 

- Must have strong operational support experience with Linux Red Hat server in a production enterprise. 
- Experience of providing production support activities for business critical Linux applications. 
- Experience of supporting VMware environments 
- Experience working night shifts before 
- Understanding of Linux and database recover technologies including SAN replication 
- Knowledge of Cisco IP networks. 
- Experience working with a ticketing system such as Support Works 
- Knowledge of IT service management (ITIL) framework.
