Role Description:

To work within a small and dynamic team in Luxembourg, our client, a leading specialist commercial insurer is searching for a new Finance Manager for their European subsidiary.

You will provide support to the CFO/General Manager in all aspects of Finance and general management.
The role will also require management and leadership of the credit control function including all
aspects of performance management and staff development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Statutory and regulatory reporting (25%)
 Review of all regulatory, statutory and Solvency II reporting
 Support CFO with Board reporting
 Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level
appropriate to the position that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
 Manage aspects of regulators liaison in conjunction with the CFO
 Collaborate with the Group finance function in UK and US
 Liaise with tax team and report key matters to the CFO
 Liaise with treasury team and report key matters to the CFO
 May perform additional duties as assigned

Financial planning and analysis (25%)
 Monthly premium forecasting working closely with underwriting teams
 Support in the coordination and contribution to the annual business planning cycle
 Analyse business performance
 Market/industry analysis as required by CFO
 Act as the finance representative assigned to certain projects as required
 Assist the General manager/CFO in delivering expense savings
 Provide finance training to the underwriters to raise understanding and enhance usage of
financial management information

Management of Billings and Collections team (20%)
 Supervise and manage of a team of credit controllers in Continental Europe including all
aspects of performance management and staff development
 Manage the team to ensure effective collection of premiums
 Liaise with the Billings and Collections team in the UK
 Work closely with relevant functions in the business including Underwriting and Operations to
improve operational efficiency including processing times, data quality and data accuracy.
 Drive continuous improvement in credit control systems and processes including query
resolution, aged debt reporting, business interaction and data quality.
 Ensure that an effective and robust financial control environment exists within the credit
control area and that financial controls are operating effectively.

Deputy to General Manager (30%)
 Prepare presentation for the General manager/CFO business trips as required
 Key contact for the auditors
 Assist in the development and refinement of projects and business strategy
 Strategic planning: assist in evaluating and developing roadmaps for organic and inorganic
growth.
 Contribute to and assist business planning initiatives to develop short and long term
opportunities
 Ensure close collaboration with UK teams and provide support in the effective establishment
of operating model.
 Liaise with IT and operations manager to drive operational efficiency across the organisation
 Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Your Profile:

 Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
 Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. An understanding of the insurance
industry and the ability to recognise the different procedures that have to be followed.
 Excellent communication, planning and customer service skills are required. Any continental
language skills would be an advantage.
 Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
 Able to analyse billing & collections issues, perform calculations and raise documented queries for
sign off and resolution.
 Strong knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business
related software.
 An agile mindset with the curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges as they arise.

 Previous experience within the Insurance market is preferred, but a good experience in finance is
essential.
 Accounting or Insurance specific qualifications are an advantage.
