MI Developer:

As a Management Information Developer you will be working within the Data Management department, reporting directly to one of their Data Engineers, based here in London at their global Head Office.

What you'll be doing:

  • Understand the principles of good data warehouse practice and how to maintain and enhance existing data warehouses and data structures without loss of performance or functionality
  • Interpret and implement user requirements from various departments including Data Management, Pricing, Exposure Management, Conduct and Finance.
  • Build efficient and scalable systems to ensure that additional components can be added in a modular and timely fashion without compromising the existing system
  • Support the data engineer in providing solution architecture and solutions for the extraction and transformation of data to help the business make use of data central to its day-to-day operations
  • Understand change management and release management principles when delivering data solutions to production.
  • Develop good visualisation skills in order to present data in a variety of formats including Excel, SSIS and Power BI
  • Championing the company values and works in accordance with the organisational behaviours
  • To be aware of and comply with the relevant rules and regulations in relation to financial crime & conduct

What we need to see from you:

We are ideally looking for someone with the ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritise own work. An analytical thinker is a must, innovation and good problem solving abilities will be essential for the role. You will need to have a very high level of both communication and numeracy skills.

Moreover we are looking for someone who can work as part of a team. You must be willing to question and challenge, maintain a positive and conscientious attitude. Ideally you will be committed to quality, and uphold that in how you work with those around you both internally and externally.

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of SQL Server 2016, SSIS, SSAS
  • Knowledge of complex T-SQL and ETL techniques to support the transformation of data from a variety of sources
  • Experience implementing systems to import and manipulate complex data structures both relational and non-relational (in particular Excel and XML data sources)
  • Understanding of master data and data quality principles
  • Experience working with software development principles, e.g. environment management, version control
  • Experience implementing reports in Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI
  • Ability to create design patterns (e.g. in BIML and Dynamic SQL) to automate the development process
  • Familiarity with cloud servers

Bonus points for:

  • Strong background within the Insurance industry
  • Knowledge of other common RDBMS implementation (Oracle, Postgres, etc.)
  • Scripting skills e.g. VBA (use with Excel)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure
