Job Description

To work within the first line of defence to develop, enhance and embed Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework and promote ORM across Division Centre and our European, Asian, Australian and Retro business units. The role is wide reaching across a fast growing and entrepreneurial business and with exposure to senior stakeholders. 

To provide facilitation support and guidance for the implementation of Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) to be carried out by the first line staff and to coordinate the roll out and oversight with business unit (BU) risk officers based in our offices globally.

To enhance the ORM framework to include scenario analyses to assess the Risk and Controls to feed into the quantification of operational risk capital.

To provide clear and insightful presentation of operational risk matters to CRO, Risk Management Committees and PLRL and other Boards as relevant to ensure understanding and facilitate effective decision making.

The role holder will be a primary contact for Operational Risk Management and they will be expected to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to achieve this.

Qualifications & expertise

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Financial Services Operational Risk Management, ideally within (re)insurance or financial services.
  • Qualified to degree level.
  • Deep understanding of risk and control frameworks and principles underlying Operational Risk Management.
  • Ability to manage, and objectively and effectively challenge business stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and projects, meet deadlines and overcome barriers to success.
  • Able to identify and recommend solutions to critical issues.
  • Aptitude to break down complex issues into tasks and deal with them in a logical manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships and to obtain respect and attention of Board and senior stakeholders.
