My client is a market leading provider of international insurance services across multiple sectors worldwide.

In recent years they have grown substantially as a business and part of this has been through acquisitions made within the insurance services space. Consequently they have a numerous systems operating under the broader integration. Although keen to allow arms of the business to maintain their separate identities and operations, they are keen to enhancing organisational efficiency and support a tech-forward culture across the business.

About the role

The objective of this role is to lead the planning, implementation and handover of projects aligned to both the company's operational and strategic business objectives.

Covering full life cycle project management, from start-up to closure including initiation, delivery, handover and the effective management of risk, issue and change control.

Managing timescales and budgets, using best practise project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance.This position will have a focus in particular in the implementations of Policy Admin Systems across the organisation. This opportunity is based in the City (London) and reporting into the Head of IT Change.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects, to agreed time, budget, scope and quality.
  • To work closely with all members of the project board and other business stakeholders to ensure projects meet expectations.
  • To develop and maintain realistic project plans with clearly defined tasks and assigned resources, which can be used to accurately track progress.
  • Assemble and coordinate project resource and manage the activities of internal and third party service providers.
  • To define and manage project budgets and record spend in accordance with business project management methodology.
  • To effectively manage project resource allocation to ensure on time delivery of projects.
  • To accurately track project progress and provide monthly status reports to project boards and stakeholders.
  • To implement and manage project change control and interventions such that project objectives are met.
  • To proactively manage risks and issues in accordance with business project management methodology.
  • To ensure smooth transition into production and that projects meet security, and other non-functional requirements.
  • Contribute to the smooth running and continuous improvement of the IT Department and business relations where applicable in the role.

ABOUT YOU

Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial project management experience within the insurance space is essential (preferably London Market)
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering corporate system projects, financial management and insurance systems
  • Experience working with Policy Administration Systems (PAS) is ESSENTIAL for this role.
  • Experience of working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and external suppliers to drive projects forward
  • Experience of delivering system and application change projects using different software development life cycles
  • Demonstrable experience implementing front office applications is essential
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, covering a range of systems, technologies and business services.
  • Good MS Project, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Project finance tracking, reporting and cost to completion forecasting

Nice to have:

  • Prince2 Certification.
  • Knowledge of application programming, database and system design.
  • ITIL certified, maintains awareness of developing technologies.
