This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategic and Emerging Risk team of this global insurer.

Become part of this growing team who play a pivotal role in ensuring the business is well-prepared to respond to emerging risks and challenges. This is through implementing strategies to protect the business as well as ways to capitalise on opportunities.

As the team's Risk Analyst, you will use support the advancement of emerging risks and systemic risk capabilities by assisting with framework design and conducting research. Ensuring enhancements across the process, from risk identification to Board level reporting.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in enhancing our emerging risk capabilities, ensuring that emerging risk management processes are fully embedded within the organisation and the business is appropriately engaged in the vision.
  • Proactively conduct research across relevant industry, economic, and academic resources, which supports the team's objective to proactively manage environmental, emerging and systemic risks.

Support the our Climate Change Risk project, including but not limited to:

  • Climate change risk assessments (physical, litigation and transitional risks) across core functions including Underwriting, Investments, and internal Operations.
  • Ongoing design of data needs, MI, and new reporting.
  • Support the development of Climate Change Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), including within Insurance, Investments, and Operational Risk
  • Proactively monitor new regulatory requirements and guidelines and communicate these to relevant teams.

Core Risk Activities -

  • Work closely with business functions to monitor climate change and emerging risks and keep track of ongoing stakeholder actions.
  • Enhance communication and engagement on climate change and emerging risks through for example distributing key risk information to stakeholders as relevant.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a clear risk appetite framework with respect of Strategic and Systemic Risk and ensure this is embedded in decision making, with up-to-date quarterly reporting.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of climate change and emerging risks and advise on risk mitigation strategies where required
  • Support risk management activities through the development of novel qualitative scenarios for risk assessment and reporting, including stress and scenario testing and reverse stress testing components.
  • Support the delivery of the Risk Management Plan and thematic reviews.
  • Support an effective risk culture.
  • Act as an ambassador to champion our Responsible Risk Management priorities.
  • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, contributing to the climate change and emerging risk sections for Board approval.
  • Contribute to the production of regular and ad hoc reporting from the Risk Management function, including to the Risk Management Committee, Board, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Review and update as appropriate relevant sections of our governance policies.
  • Coordinate action across the organization through working groups, including but not limited to, the Climate Change Forum and Emerging Risk Task Force.
  • Produce and distribute meeting minutes for the Climate Change Forum and Emerging Risk Task Force.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Excellent academic record.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in and knowledge of emerging and systemic risks, climate change and environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics and trends.
  • Stakeholder management and relationship skills - to build relationships with a range of stakeholders at different levels of the business.
  • Good analytical skills - able to effectively analyse datasets and form sound conclusions.
  • Time management skills - ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Challenge - ability to productively challenge existing processes whilst remaining resilient under scrutiny.
  • Project management skills - to deliver change within areas of responsibility.
