Job Description

A leading and highly reputable specialty insurance business situated in the heart of London, is currently looking to appoint a senior financial analyst who demonstrates intelligence and first class communication skills. 

The senior financial analyst sits within a team of three and reports directly to the financial MI manager. The key objective of the senior financial analyst is to produce accurate financial management information, and valuable analysis and commentary on a monthly and quarterly basis, in order to aid key business decisions.

The main responsibilities are listed below:

  • Production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial management information, which includes underwriting results, gross written premium production, EPI exhibits, and rate and retention reports.
  • Collating financial board reports for each entity.
  • Analysis of financial results to provide commentary to the CFO and Group.
  • Quarterly results analysis pack, including variance analysis.
  • Assist the financial systems & closing teams with the production of the financial results.
  • Support the underwriting team - present monthly and quarterly results and be able to answer questions from the business.
  • Partner with the corporate development & strategic planning team ensuring that every aspect of the financial process is seamless and consistent.
  • Collaborate with data & analytics team to develop online management information.
  • Provide financial and systems training to relevant areas of business.
  • Assist in financial projects, working with IT and other areas of finance.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:

  • Intelligence and a curious mind.
  • An understanding of business objectives and the insurance market.
  • Exceptional communication and rapport building  skills - you must be comfortable and confident presenting to and partnering with senior management and non-finance professionals within the business.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of insurance accounting and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of online MI systems preferable (e.g. Tableau).

Candidates currently working within the Lloyd's market are strongly preferred however this is not 100% essential, as long as you can demonstrate the willingness and initiative to pick it up.
