We are assisting a multinational insurer to find a Senior Liability Underwriter to support the growth of Corporate and SME markets. The Senior Underwriter will be integral to the technical underwriting team and lead on elements of portfolio performance, development of underwriting strategy and provide technical oversight and governance of the commercial liability account. The technical team is comprised of technical subject matter experts across all Commercial lines of business. The team is central and integral to many programmes and projects within the business and works closely with and influences many other business areas. The role will also support and contribute to the expansion of the underwriting appetite and fast-growing underwriting capability. The position will allow for up-skilling across different areas and provide you with ample development opportunities within the company. The role can be based from anywhere in the UK, however, travel to the London office is required.
This is not a trading role with brokers and the role focusses predominantly on SME business but this will grow out into more corporate lines of business over time. Some of the core duties will include assessing and interpreting performance and claims trends across various accounts and developing liability class underwriting philosophy, strategy, risk appetite, technical wordings, and driving improvement opportunities in the likes of wordings, processes, pricing or strategy.
The role is similar to a portfolio manager, but with an emphasis on technical underwriting processes. Candidates will need extensive commercial liability underwriting experience and knowledge of reinsurance and its applications.
