A well established, successful and continuously expanding specialty re/insurance business are going through a further period of growth, and are currently looking to appoint a Senior Technical Accountant to be based in their London office.
Reporting to the Head of Technical Accounting / Financial Controller, this position requires someone with London company market experience and ceded reinsurance accounting knowledge.
Key duties as follows:
- Overseeing monthly/quarterly Technical reporting for the London market company, as well as 1 European entity and 1 European branch office.
- Providing technical accounting guidance to team members and other functions, ensuring technical balances are correctly recorded in the GL.
- Reconcile and approve technical balances for European entities.
- Support the Head of Technical Accounting with supervising the team.
- Play an active role in period end consolidation of technical accounts.
- Ensuring analysis of insurance/reinsurance financial accounts to support consolidated analytics / legal entity sign-off.
- Perform insurance and reinsurance financial account balance analysis.
- Work with the Global Technical Accounting to ensure processes and procedures remain consistent.
- Enhancing internal controls to ensure accurate reporting and recon.
- Liaise with Reserving, Business Services and Ceded Re teams to ensure data availability, accuracy and timeliness.
- Help in driving continuous process improvements.
- Take ownership of technical reporting for international entities.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Fully qualified Accountant.
- London company market experience.
- Lloyd's syndicate experience would be a plus.
- Ceded reinsurance accounting knowledge (essential).
- Strong technical accounting, US GAAP and IFRS experience.
- Process improvement background required.
