Job Description

Due to continued growth in the region, our client is looking for an experienced compliance professional with a strong reinsurance background to develop their compliance function. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CRO.

This a great step for a seasoned compliance professional who is looking to add value and be part of a cohesive and supportive environment, whilst working closely with senior stakeholders.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Drive a compliance-risk assessment process based on a comprehensive inventory of all laws, rules and regulations.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative risk markers to measure compliance risk.
  • Develop, review and up-date compliance related policies and procedures together with other stakeholders: translate compliance rules into operational requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of compliance processes and ensure that all policies and manuals are kept updated.
  • Provide training to new staff and to business units on compliance related company policies and new regulatory requirements to foster compliance and risk culture across the company.
  • Support compliance function at subsidiary.
  • Report to regulators and shareholders on compliance related matters.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of AML policies.
  • Assist business units in know-your-client processes and new regulations.

Requirements:

  • Degree in law and/or professional qualification in compliance.
  • Minimum 10 years compliance experience in (re-)insurance companies and/or with insurance regulatory body.
  • In-depth understanding of the (re-)insurance industry and international regulatory developments in key markets.
  • With exposure in APAC; EU regulatory regimes.
  • Good knowledge of compliance procedures as well as internal controls and risk management.
  • Ability to focus on material matters.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and taking initiative.
  • Technically competent and hands-on.
  • Ability to communicate actuarial concepts effectively to non-actuaries, both internally and externally.
  • Team spirit coupled with can-do attitude and commitment.
  • Developed skills in managing relationships with stakeholders.
