Eames Consulting is exclusively partnering with a growing insurer who provide cover for litigation costs. This firm specifically focus on providing cover for major commercial cases and therefore have a much more diligent and involved underwriting process than many legal insurers. They are also well equipped to offer large coverages through an AA rated capacity provider.

You would be working very closely with the directors of the business to evaluate new business opportunities, review the cases to better comprehend likelihood of successful outcome, draft a bespoke policy (based upon a pro-forma with tailored wordings / etc), negotiate terms, agree structure of policy and ultimately work with the insured through the process.

This entity generally deal directly with their clients rather than through broker channels, these clients can be major solicitors, litigation funders, or other direct parties.

In addition you will be involved in the networking and marketing of the business, strategic involvement in the growth of the company and a number of other business facets. Being a relatively small company working hand in hand with solicitors they very much work similar hours to those in private practice. However, in return they do reward very generously with high salaries and very good bonuses.

Over time as you develop, it will be expected that you take over the day to day running of the Underwriting function including mentoring of junior team members.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a growing business with strong financial backing and the tools required to succeed. You will also be given the opportunity to really take control of your workload, build commercial and softer skills and develop beyond a life in practice.

To be considered, you should have solid experience of litigation ideally around professional negligence (not medical) although a broader commercial litigation background would also be considered. Ideally you will also have some understanding of insurance, either through defending claims or through secondment to insurers. Most importantly, you should be looking for a challenging role within a highly commercial environment.
