Job purpose

Responsible for the preparation of statutory and other internal and external reporting requirements for the legal entities.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare the annual statutory and quarterly management accounts for the UK insurance entities including smaller companies and supporting analytical review and analysis.
  • Prepare branch financial management accounts as well as other reporting requirements required by the governing authorities of the Branches. This includes supporting the International Tax Team on corporation tax reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly CFO report for the combined International platforms and individual legal entity results for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors meetings. This includes preparing commentary and analytical review of legal entity balance sheets and income statements.
  • Review of US and UK GAAP quarterly adjustments prepared by Fin Ops team to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Preparation of other non-regulatory insurance data requests (i.e. National Statistics Survey, Association of British Insurer’s Returns, International Underwriting Association, Financial Conduct Authority and Invoices etc.)
  • Support the preparation of the EEA group consolidated management accounts for SII reporting purposes.
  • Prepare coverholder/broker and TPA reviews through the year for the Compliance department.
  • Research and analyse technical updates (US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS, Local Branch GAAP)
  • Assist with the management of the legal entity team timetable.
  • Work with external auditors to support the timely completion of the annual statutory audits.
  • Involvement in developing tools and performing quality assurance checks.
  • Involvement in ad-hoc internal and external reporting activities.

Delivery of projects, initiatives and objectives

  • Key involvement in Legal Entity Reporting projects to ensure that they meet defined objectives and are delivered on time.
  • Support the Statutory and Technical Accounting Manager for internal and external reporting.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and ‘end to end process’ thinking.
  • Use a collaborative approach when working with others.
  • Provide support to and knowledge sharing within the team.

Experience

  • New or Nearly Qualified Accountant
  • Advanced Excel
  • Strong practical accounting skills
  • Methodical approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Good understanding of the London Insurance Market from both a Lloyd’s and Company Market perspective
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Solution focused
  • Utilising multiple underwriting systems: Genius, Eclipse, & IRIS
  • General Ledger: PeopleSoft
