A global bank is currently searching for a proven technical accountant to join their Milton Keynes team in a hybrid office remote working basis with office presence ideally required 2 times a week. This role will assist the Head of Technical Accounting on accounting developments in IFRS reporting, assessing their impact on all group businesses in the UK and communicating this to all relevant stakeholders, includes liaising with other areas of Finance on all technical accounting aspects of IFRS implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting all areas of the business with technical accounting guidance for all aspects of Wholesale Finance and Financial Instruments with respect to new products / strategies / transactions.

  • Providing guidance to the business regarding the implications of changes to International Accounting Standards

  • Ensuring the Treasury businesses (and associated hedge accounting strategies) are in compliance with UK group policies and IFRS

  • Liaising with the group to ensure the classification of all financial assets and liabilities are in line with the requirements of IFRS 9, including the monitoring of appropriate business models, asset rotation ratios and SPPI testing for financial assets held.

  • Providing challenge and assistance to Banking Market Risk and Group Reporting around the levelling of financial instruments held at fair value through profit and loss

  • Liaising with Group Reporting and Statutory reporting on various financial statements disclosures.

Requirements:

  • Proven IFRS technical accounting experience, including practical exposure to IFRS both in terms of preparation/presentation of complex statutory accounts and technical interpretations.

  • Qualified accountant (ideally ACA Big 4 Trained but also consider ACCA)

  • Ideally good knowledge of banking products but technical accountants with experience outside of financial services will be considered

  • Strong academic background

  • Excellent process improvement skills
