Job Description

The Technical Delivery Manager will report into the Digital Backbone Delivery Manager and will manage delivery of technical solutions, integrations and systems as part of strategic Enterprise Architecture initiatives. The role will be expected to engage with multiple business units within the Group and EA technical delivery teams to identify, plan and deliver, up to production environment, critical enterprise services and solutions for dependent programmes and projects with strong alignment to Enterprise Architecture and Group strategy

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Planning and delivery of stakeholder workshops to investigate user requirements, complex problems or issues and capture key insight
  • Engagement with programme and project managers working on dependent programmes and projects
  • Developing detailed project plans to guide the business and project teams and revising based on changing needs and requirements
  • Manage the preparation, documentation and maintenance of project requirements, including management of detailed analysis and mapping of business processes
  • Management of the end-to-end project lifecycle for projects
  • Monitor and key aspects of projects (e.g. resourcing, time, quality, costs, risks and issues) and manage resolution of issues and risks
  • Compiling and submitting project status reports to management and wider stakeholder groups
  • Produce and maintain project RAID logs
  • Delivery of high-quality outputs and capabilities to scope, budget and timeline, with effective stakeholder management at all levels of the business, and ongoing measurement of business benefits.

Skills and abilities needed to perform role

  • Strong business and systems analysis and design skills, ability to develop strategies and organise task
  • Excellent documentation, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, especially the ability to tailor messages to senior stakeholder and delivery teams
  • Ability to develop clear, concise and compelling story line for executive presentations
  • Working in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Strong agile delivery skills (Scrum), ideally with some scaled agile experience and ability to work in an
    environment with mixed delivery methodologies (i.e. traditional waterfall, agile etc.)
  • Strong IT project, programme management and SDLC skills, ideally with experience of technical delivery
    estimation, planning and management (e.g. using PRINCE2, PMP methods etc)
  • Good understanding and awareness of IT service management (e.g. ITIL)
  • Proven project management experience, delivering complex insurance implementation

Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Technical insurance knowledge
  • Experience in delivering a finance transformation project
  • Agile or Waterfall Project Management qualification(s) (Scrum Master, PRINCE2, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead, contribute or review output of business and systems analysis to inform solution design and delivery
  • Experience as a Project Manager/Scrum master on agile solution deliveries, especially delivery of enterprise integration solutions (e.g. RESTful APIs, SOAP web services etc.)
  • Strong agile delivery skills (Scrum), ideally with some scaled agile experience and ability to work in an environment with mixed delivery methodologies (i.e. traditional waterfall, agile etc.)
  • Strong skills in delivering in complex IT environments (multi-geography, multi-supplier, outsourced environments) involving geographically distributed delivery team comprising internal resources, 3rd party suppliers and outsourced delivery teams

This is a hybrid role requiring a home base commutable to London - requiring Insurance experience.
