Job Description

One of the world's leading banks is currently looking for a VP - financial reporting on a contract basis for 12 months. This is to fill in for the current incumbent who will be seconded to a project for the upcoming year. The details are as follows: 

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the performance of financial reporting and operational/transactional accounting
  • Implementing the global financial reporting strategy, and develops and executes strategy and policies while ensuring all deadlines are achieved
  • Responsible for accounting policy and reporting of all balance sheet items in Singapore HQ
  • Provide accounting advice to support the accounting for major business transaction events, i.e. new product launches and asset transfers
  • Liaising with the business and providing support where necessary for the implementation of new accounting standards and policies
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS and local GAAP as appropriate
  • Liaise with external auditors in relation to annual statutory accounts
  • Co-ordinate the testing of system upgrades and propose automation or enhancements 
  • Manage the resources allocated to financial reporting and accounting policy
  • Review and investigate general ledger imbalance and manual accounting entries
  • Manage operational risk, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree in Accountancy or Finance or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years relevant experience
  • Has extensive years of experience in banking industry including reporting to head office
  • An appreciation of accounting concepts
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Analytical with a keen eye for details
  • An aptitude for systems work and strong computer skills
