Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Clean Energy Supplier | PE-Backed | London (Hybrid)
Our client is a private equity-backed clean energy supplier with bold ambitions to scale nationally and transform the UK's residential and SME energy market. Combining technology-driven customer solutions with a commitment to sustainable energy, the business is already gaining significant market traction and is now entering a pivotal phase of growth.
They are now seeking an ambitious and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their high-calibre leadership team, based in central London.
This is a key appointment at a strategically important time. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and Board to shape and execute financial strategy, drive operational performance, and support the business through an accelerated scale-potentially including M&A, product diversification, and future exit planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the finance function, including financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and control
- Strategic leadership across capital allocation, funding structure, and value creation initiatives
- Preparation of high-quality financial information to support Board-level decision making
- Active involvement in all investor and funding-related activity, working in close partnership with private equity stakeholders
- Oversight of cash flow management, cost control, and commercial modelling to support scalable growth
- Development of a finance function capable of supporting a fast-paced, digital-first, regulated energy business
- Hands-on leadership across financial operations, building a high-performance, delivery-focused finance team
Candidate Profile
- An experienced CFO or senior finance executive with a strong track record in private equity-backed or investor-led growth businesses
- Background in energy, utilities, or tech-enabled B2C/B2SME environments is highly advantageous
- Proven ability to lead through scale-up environments, ideally with experience in M&A, integrations, or exit processes
- A strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, but also highly operational and willing to be hands-on
- Comfortable acting as a key point of contact for investors, the Board, and external advisors
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with excellent financial rigour and commercial acumen
This is a rare opportunity to step into a true business-partnering CFO role within a purpose-led, growth-stage company that is making a tangible impact on the UK's energy future. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the company's direction over the coming years and will play a key role in realising significant shareholder value.
