Calculations Manager - Defined Benefit Pensions
I'm looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join an onboarding calculations team within a busy pension risk transfer environment. It's a role that brings together detailed DB technical work, team support, and helping to shape and improve processes.
You'll be part of the team responsible for maintaining scheme data, updating member records, and making sure customers receive accurate benefit information. The work is varied. One day you're checking complex quotations, the next you're supporting a process improvement project or helping colleagues navigate a tricky piece of legislation.
This is a hybrid role based in Glasgow or Hove, with a balance between office time and home working.
What you'll be doing
Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across onboarding calculations
Checking individual DB quotations and signing off communications
Acting as the team's main point of contact for technical queries
Coaching and supporting colleagues as they develop
Leading and contributing to process improvement projects
Producing and analysing MI to support good customer outcomes
Working closely with other operational teams to keep everything running smoothly
What we're looking for
A pensions qualification (PMI, CII or similar) or strong equivalent experience
Detailed understanding of DB schemes, legislation, and benefit structures
Strong experience with manual calculations and complex benefit cases
Someone who enjoys problem solving and improving how things are done
Clear communication skills with a strong customer focus
Ability to manage competing deadlines
