Overview
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead and support a large‑scale Microsoft Hyper‑V migration. The ideal candidate combines deep Hyper‑V expertise with hands‑on experience across enterprise storage, backup, and virtualization technologies. You will work closely with infrastructure and development teams to plan, execute, and continuously improve the migration while maintaining high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end Hyper‑V migration: discovery, planning, execution, validation, cutover, and post‑migration optimization.
  • Integrate and operate Veeam as the migration/backup tool, ensuring reliable backups, restores, and recovery testing.
  • Administer and optimize Pure Storage environments, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and lifecycle operations.
  • Manage Cohesity enterprise backup solutions: policies, retention, recovery drills, and compliance alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (infrastructure, networking, security, development) to deliver stable, secure platforms.
  • Establish and maintain robust documentation: runbooks, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and change records.
  • Drive automation and consistency using PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform for provisioning, configuration, and operations.
  • Contribute to Disaster Recovery planning: creation, implementation, and periodic testing of DR procedures.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems issues quickly and accurately; implement preventative measures and improvements.
  • Support hybrid cloud initiatives and ensure seamless integration between on‑premises and cloud services.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of IT Systems & Storage experience, ideally in multi‑data‑centre environments.
  • Expert‑level knowledge of Microsoft Hyper‑V.
  • Experience with Pure Storage and Cohesity backup solutions.
  • Efficient, accurate troubleshooting and remediation skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset and demonstrated leadership in technical initiatives.
  • Proactive collaborator who works effectively with development teams and other stakeholders.

Nice to Have / Assets

  • VMware ESXi and related products/technologies.
  • Oracle KVM hypervisor.
  • SAN technologies (e.g., Brocade or similar).
  • Broader enterprise backup solutions experience.
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux server OS administration.
  • Scripting/automation with Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Disaster Recovery plan creation, implementation, and testing experience.
  • Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure; hybrid cloud implementations.
  • Solid understanding of networking technologies and systems.

Ways of Working

  • Effective and proactive collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to documenting changes and adhering to change‑management processes.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on reliability, performance, and security.
