Chief Financial Officer
Location: Central London (4 days per week in office)
Package: £180,000-£200,000 base + bonus + long-term incentive plan
Overview
A high-growth, privately owned FinTech business with a strong presence in the UK is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. The organisation generates approximately £30m in annual revenue, is backed by a minority PE investor, and is entering a phase of accelerated growth, balance sheet optimisation, and strategic expansion.
This is a hands-on CFO role with a clear mandate to deliver immediate financial and commercial impact, particularly through capital structure optimisation and value creation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
- Act as a core member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy and long-term value creation.
- Partner closely with the CEO and Board on financial strategy, performance, and growth initiatives.
- Provide rigorous financial insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
Capital Structure & Funding
- Lead all aspects of capital markets activity, including debt structuring, refinancing, and lender relationships.
- Deliver near-term ROI improvements through initiatives such as refinancing, balance sheet optimisation, or cost of capital reduction.
- Oversee relationships with banks, credit providers, and funding partners across the UK and Europe.
M&A and Corporate Development
- Lead and execute M&A activity across the UK and European markets, including acquisitions, integrations, disposals, and strategic investments.
- Manage financial due diligence, valuation, structuring, and post-deal integration.
- Support inorganic growth strategy in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
Investor & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary financial interface with the minority institutional investor.
- Prepare board materials, financial reporting, and investor communications.
- Support governance, reporting, and compliance requirements aligned with a PE-style environment.
Financial Operations & Controls
- Oversee all core finance functions including FP&A, accounting, treasury, tax, and risk.
- Ensure robust financial controls, reporting accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team aligned to growth objectives.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Background
- Proven CFO or senior finance leader experience within lending, credit, capital markets, or financial services.
- Deep expertise in debt markets, structured finance, and credit-based business models.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering immediate financial impact (e.g. refinancing, capital optimisation).
- Significant UK and European M&A experience, including end-to-end transaction leadership.
- Experience working with private equity or institutional minority investors.
- Experience operating within an SME, ideally within non-bank B2B lending
