Head of Enterprise Applications and Integrations (Financial Services)

We are partnered with a reputable financial services institution to identify a Head of Enterprise Applications & Integration to lead enterprise application architecture and digital technology strategy across the organization.

You will drive large-scale transformation across digital banking, core banking modernisation, and customer engagement platforms. You will partner senior stakeholders across Business, IT, Operations, Security, and Change to deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant solutions.

This role suits a senior banking technology leader with prior CIO / Head of IT / Head of Technology experience, ideally from global financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute enterprise application architecture strategy and target-state roadmap
• Lead technology transformation programmes across digital banking and enterprise platforms
• Provide governance over solution architecture, engineering standards, and delivery assurance
• Own modernisation initiatives across legacy applications, platform re-architecture, and cloud/hybrid adoption
• Drive integration strategy across APIs, middleware, messaging, and event-driven architecture
• Partner with Retail, Wholesale, and Corporate stakeholders to align technology priorities with business outcomes
• Lead production stability and continuous improvement for critical customer-facing and internal systems
• Lead and scale multi-disciplinary delivery teams across IT, Operations, and Change functions
• Manage vendor ecosystems and delivery partners to meet timelines, cost, and risk expectations
• Embed Agile-at-scale practices and uplift delivery maturity across teams
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, security, and operational resilience requirements

Required experience

• At least 15 years of strong track record of leadership and delivering complex digital banking and enterprise transformations
• Experience across both Retail and Wholesale / Commercial banking technology
• Experience leading large delivery organisations across engineering, operations, and change functions
• Deep understanding of digital banking platforms (mobile, internet, customer engagement)
• Strong application architecture foundation across distributed systems and integration patterns
• Experience with core banking modernisation or migration programmes
• Strong knowledge of non-functional requirements: security, performance, scalability, resiliency, DR, observability
• Cybersecurity modernisation exposure and secure-by-design implementation experience
• Strong grasp of SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices
• Executive-level communication and influence
• Strong people leadership and org design capability
• Ability to drive culture change and uplift engineering standards
• Commercial mindset across budgeting, delivery governance, and prioritisation
