York, London, Bristol (hybrid working, c. 50% office)

18 month fixed term contract

Competitive salary + bonus + strong benefits

We’re working on a really interesting opportunity within a large Life & Pensions business, sitting as part of a major transformation programme.

This isn’t your typical reporting or pricing role. It’s much more focused on understanding how products work at a detailed level and translating that into clear, structured calculation logic for new systems.

The role

You’ll be working closely with actuarial, product and technical teams to break down complex legacy products and ensure they’re accurately reflected in a new platform.

Day to day, that looks like:

  • Translating product rules into detailed calculation specifications
  • Building and documenting logic using Excel
  • Interpreting legacy product features, including guarantees and charging structures
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across actuarial, IT and change teams
  • Supporting the delivery of a large-scale transformation programme

What they’re looking for

This would suit someone with a strong actuarial foundation who enjoys getting into the detail.

  • Nearly or newly qualified actuary (or strong part-qualified and Given up exams)
  • Experience in Life insurance or Pensions
  • Comfortable working through complex product mechanics
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Any exposure to with-profits, protection or legacy products would be a bonus, but not essential.

Why it’s worth a look

  • Great opportunity to build a deep understanding of how products work end-to-end
  • Exposure to a high-profile transformation programme
  • A slightly different angle compared to traditional actuarial roles
  • Strong benefits package including generous pension and bonus
