Global Investment Bank is searching for a Valuation Control director to join their EMEA Finance team in London. This is a newly created position for the bank due to an increase in trading volume in the region and you will oversee valuation control for all derivatives products with a focus on XVA, valuation and booking models. The role will have a heavy project management focus as the bank looks to establish a robust end-to-end control framework to support the region’s expanding derivatives capabilities
Responsibilities:
- Subject matter expert on valuation and product control of derivative products, including valuation, P&L explain, IPV and reserves methodologies and XVA
- Defining and execute a valuation control strategy through a best practice model.
- Lead for product control involvement in regional New Product reviews, ensuring consistency and quality of reviews and appropriate control and testing discipline
- Assessment and of current state capability and defining a strategic and sustainable operating model to support a scaling business
- Creation of roadmap and project management to support delivery
- Proactive horizon scanning for the Product Control are including governance updates
- Ad-hoc support to key projects with significant accounting / product involvement
- Design, implement, and embed control processes into core business activities, ensuring sustainable integration into BAU operations
- Share relevant knowledge proactively across EMEA teams, including insights from horizon scanning and industry best practices related to Product Control
- Take ownership of evolving the operating model for Product Control – aligning with strategic direction of Sales and Trading business areas
- Assess systems capability and collaborate with Change and IT colleagues in addressing areas for enhancement
- Drive process efficiency within the team, identify opportunities for automation and system enhancements and drive delivery
Requirements:
- Strong valuation control experience from another Investment Bank.
- Deep understanding of range of Rates and/or credit Investment Banking Products with focus on derivatives
- Proven experience of working with XVA models, P&L explain & reserve methodologies
- Extensive experience of working and leading on valuation control projects including defining a strategic and sustainable operating model
- Mathematical academic background (ideally MSc or CFA Qualified)
- Qualified Accountant (Ideally but not essential)
