Lead Data Scientist

Lead Data Scientist - Hybrid - London based.

The Role

This senior role is responsible for shaping and leading the data science chapter and delivering advanced analytics, ML and AI solutions that support decision-making and commercial outcomes. You will provide technical leadership, set standards and tooling, and build a high-performing team, working across business units with support from data engineering and ML operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the organisation’s data science and machine learning capability
• Deliver analytics, ML and AI solutions using internal and external data
• Provide technical leadership on modelling, experimentation and best practice
• Establish reproducible, collaborative data science tooling and ways of working
• Recruit, mentor and retain data science talent
• Promote rapid prototyping and iterative delivery
• Communicate data science innovation across technical and business stakeholders

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience across a range of machine learning techniques
• Advanced statistical capability
• Strong Python skills; additional languages advantageous
• Experience with generative AI, including prompt engineering, RAG and agentic approaches
• Experience mentoring junior talent
• Technical leadership experience; people management advantageous
