I am an associate director leading the life actuarial function working with life insurers, reinsurers and consulting firms, supporting candidates from graduates up to chief actuaries and chief risk officers.
Taking time to listen and really understand what both clients and candidates are looking for is key. In the actuarial market, there is always a shortage of talent, so I constantly look for ways to be creative in solving my clients&rsquo; recruitment challenges. I take an open, honest and consultative approach and will always prioritise quality over quantity.
I&rsquo;ve been in the life actuarial recruitment industry since 2001 and love that there is always something to strive for. I can always learn more and get better at my job, no matter how long I&rsquo;ve been doing it. I still get the same buzz and excitement today as I did 20 years ago!
Another side to my role is leading a team. I&rsquo;m fully dedicated to enabling my team to be the best that they can be and supporting them in their development and career aspirations. I love working with people who are professional, positive, high energy, and resilient and who show a willingness and desire to learn to build a successful career in recruitment.

Life Reinsurance Actuary

Are you a newly or nearly qualified actuary with a strong interest in reinsurance and a talent for strategic thinking? This is a newly-created role with an innovative insurer, offering exposure to both UK and global reinsurance work. You’ll support tenders, experience analysis, and provide strategic insights that help leaders make data-driven decisions - all while working as part of a focused, collaborative team. What you’ll do:- Lead and support reinsurance tenders, liaising with external parties to ensure competitive outcomes and robust arrangements.- Drive experience analysis and reporting, translating technical insights for multiple stakeholders.- Collaborate with pricing, underwriting, claims, legal, and capital teams to ensure reinsurance arrangements are fit for purpose.- Contribute to strategic initiatives, including potential global exposure opportunities. What we’re looking for:- Newly or nearly qualified actuary with 4–5 years’ experience.- Strong reinsurance background preferred (pricing experience acceptable).- Confident communicator — able to articulate technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences.- Analytical and detail-oriented, with exposure to at least one analytical tool (SQL, R, Python).- Autonomous, proactive, and ready to add value in a fast-moving environment.
