Important Notice: Protect Yourself Against Recruitment Scams
We want to alert candidates and clients to a scam currently targeting job seekers. We’ve been made aware of fraudulent WhatsApp messages from individuals falsely claiming to be consultants at Eames Consulting. These scammers are contacting people with fake job opportunities in an attempt to obtain personal information or request payment.
What you need to know
This is not genuine contact from Eames Consulting.
We have no reason to believe this is the result of any data breach or compromise of our systems. The confidentiality and integrity of the data we hold remain secure. From the reports we’ve received so far, the individuals targeted are not in our CRM and have not previously engaged with us.
This type of scam is, unfortunately, widespread and is affecting recruiters globally. The scammers’ targeting appears random, often far outside our natural network.
How to spot genuine outreach from Eames Consulting
At Eames Consulting, we are committed to the highest standards of service and professionalism. To help you identify whether a message is legitimate:
-
Our consultants will not contact you via WhatsApp as an initial approach. We would only use WhatsApp if we have already been in contact and you have requested communication through that channel.
-
We will never ask you for payment of any kind — whether for registering, background checks, or to secure a role.
-
We will only discuss roles relevant to the sectors and specialisms we recruit for. You can learn more about the disciplines we cover on our website.
-
Legitimate messages will come from official Eames Consulting email addresses (ending in @eamesconsulting.com) or phone numbers that can be verified via our website.
Be cautious if:
-
The message comes unexpectedly from an unknown number
-
The sender asks for personal details, payment, or sensitive documents like your CV without context
-
The job offer seems too good to be true
-
The message contains spelling errors or poor grammar
-
The sender pushes you to click suspicious links
What to do if you’re contacted
-
Do not engage
-
Block and report the number as spam
-
Delete the message
In the UK, you can report spam or scam texts to your phone provider by forwarding the message to 7726 (SPAM). You can also report phishing emails to report@phishing.gov.uk and job scams to JobsAware.
If you’re ever unsure whether a message is genuinely from Eames Consulting, please contact us directly via our website or email uk@eamesconsulting.com.
Thank you to everyone who has brought this to our attention. We remain committed to protecting the trust of our candidates and clients and to delivering a professional, high-integrity service at every stage.
