We're recruiting for a Mid Market Underwriter - Motor Fleet to join a leading UK insurer's Manchester team, building broker relationships across the North West while growing mid-market motor fleet portfolios with genuine autonomy.


About the Role

This role combines hands-on underwriting with proactive relationship management. You'll be aligned to a broker portfolio, managing renewals and identifying new business opportunities while conducting regular broker visits across the region. You'll work within agreed guidelines and authority to profitably grow existing books while building lasting partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite mid-market motor fleet risks across renewals and new business, assessing risk profiles and determining competitive yet profitable terms within your authority
  • Build and maintain strong broker relationships through regular face-to-face meetings, understanding their needs and positioning Aviva as their insurer of choice
  • Develop your portfolio through proactive relationship management, identifying growth opportunities and supporting brokers with expert advice and tailored solutions
  • Manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently while maintaining strong service standards and compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Proven motor fleet underwriting experience at mid-market level, with confidence assessing complex risks and making sound underwriting decisions
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, combined with the ability to engage brokers effectively and negotiate favorable commercial outcomes
  • Analytical mindset with solid understanding of FCA regulations, ACII qualification (or working toward), and professional development commitment
