A newly created position within the organisation's cyber security function, this role sits at the intersection of governance, architecture, and operations for the organisation's use of AI. As internal teams build and deploy AI models, this person defines what security controls, checkpoints, and safeguards need to exist around that work, and makes sure they're actually operating as intended. This is a security specialist role first: candidates don't need deep AI development experience, but do need to understand AI well enough to know where the risks sit and how to control for them.

What You'll Do

  • Determine what security controls and safeguards are required across the AI lifecycle, from model development through deployment, and translate that into practical governance frameworks
  • Work closely with internal teams building AI models to ensure appropriate security devices, checkpoints, and controls are embedded at the right points in the process
  • Contribute to the security architecture underpinning AI initiatives, partnering with architecture stakeholders on secure design decisions
  • Review source code for security issues tied to AI systems and related tooling
  • Plan and operationalise controls across people, process, and technology, not just policy on paper, but how it actually gets used day to day
  • Act as the go-to person for translating AI security requirements into something teams across the business can understand and apply
  • Support ongoing monitoring and improvement of AI-related security controls as threats and use cases evolve
  • Build strong working relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders, given the cross-functional nature of AI governance work

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 8 years of working experience in cyber security
  • Working familiarity with AI concepts and how they intersect with security risk
  • Experience operating across governance, operations, and architecture, rather than a single specialism
  • Comfortable planning and operationalising controls, not just designing them on paper
  • Exposure to security governance frameworks relevant to AI and technology risk
  • Strong interpersonal skills, this role requires influencing and working closely with multiple teams
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset
