A prominent financial services organisation in Singapore is hiring a VP, Global Cyber Defence Operations to take ownership of its security operations function, with accountability spanning multiple regions and time zones.
The role
This is a hands-on leadership position at the centre of the organisation's cyber defence capability. You'll set the direction for how threats are detected, triaged and shut down globally, while building a function that keeps pace with an evolving threat landscape.
Core responsibilities include:
- Setting the operating model and long-term roadmap for a round-the-clock, multi-region security monitoring function
- Acting as senior escalation point during major incidents, coordinating a cross-functional response and keeping business leadership informed throughout
- Introducing automation and AI-assisted techniques to shift the function from reactive to anticipatory threat handling
- Sourcing, evaluating and managing vendor relationships that keep detection and defence tooling current
- Tightening operational discipline: consistent standards, clear documentation and repeatable processes across the function
- Reporting on how well the function is performing, and using that to shape investment and priority decisions
- Building bridges with risk, compliance and broader technology teams so security considerations are baked into how the business operates
- Acting as the go-to contact when auditors or regulators have questions about security operations
- Growing the team's capability over time, developing future leaders within the function
What you'll need
- Degree in information technology, cyber security, computer science or similar
- Twelve or more years working in cyber security, with at least seven of those spent running a security operations function at scale
- Range across multiple security disciplines, for example offensive security, threat intelligence work, endpoint protection or cloud security
- Practical experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms and security analytics tools
- Some exposure to using AI or machine learning to support security operations
- Comfortable operating across major cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) from a security standpoint
- CISSP, CISM, CEH or similar certification is a plus, not a requirement
- Confident communicator who can brief both engineers and executives on security matters
- Background in financial services or asset management is preferred but not mandatory
