Senior Manager, Security Engineering & Automation

We are seeking a technically strong security professional to drive security engineering, automation and innovation within a large regional organisation. This is a hands-on role focused on building security tools, developing automated workflows and integrating technologies to improve the efficiency and scalability of security processes.

The successful candidate will combine strong scripting and engineering capabilities with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate ideas into practical solutions. Experience with AI-enabled security tooling and automation will be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Security Engineering & Automation: Design, develop and maintain security automation workflows using Python or other scripting languages to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
• Security Tool Integration: Integrate security platforms, APIs and data sources to automate assessments, evidence collection, control validation and reporting.
• DevSecOps Enablement: Embed security checks into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code workflows to strengthen security controls across development and deployment processes.
• Technology Innovation: Research and evaluate emerging security technologies, conduct proofs of concept and develop prototypes to improve security capabilities.
• AI & Workflow Enhancement: Explore opportunities to enhance security processes through AI-enabled tools and intelligent automation, applying appropriate safeguards and human oversight.

Requirements:

• At least 9 years of IT or information security experience, including 5 years in a relevant technical security discipline.
• Strong hands-on scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar languages, with experience building automation tools and integrating security platforms through APIs.
• Practical experience with security automation, SOAR platforms, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines or infrastructure-as-code.
• Good working knowledge of cybersecurity domains such as cloud, infrastructure, application, data or identity security, with the ability to research and develop practical technical solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders and drive initiatives independently.
• Experience with AI-enabled security tooling, LLMs or agentic automation is a strong plus but not mandatory.
