An established Lloyd's managing agent is looking for a qualified actuary to lead its portfolio management activity. This role has real scope to shape how the business writes and protects its book. You'll set up the portfolio analytics and optimisation processes, giving underwriting and leadership objective, evidence-based insight to support commercial decisions.
It's a highly visible position reporting to the Group Head of Capital, working closely with the capital, pricing, reserving, claims, BI and underwriting teams. You'll start with one direct report, and the team is expected to grow.
You'll lead portfolio monitoring to quantify the drivers of underwriting performance, and develop optimisation metrics that help maximise return on capital. You'll also lead the assessment and implementation of the reinsurance strategy, reviewing how well current and proposed structures are working.
Alongside this, you'll support business planning with analytics that inform and challenge assumptions, and help review new business opportunities. You'll direct the build of dashboards and visualisation tools, contribute to technical pricing and actuarial function report opinions.
To be considered, you'll be a fully qualified FIA or equivalent with experience in at least one of capital, portfolio management, pricing or outwards reinsurance. You'll need strong SQL and R or Python skills, and an eye for process efficiency and automation. Familiarity with Tyche or another capital modelling platform, predictive analytics, data governance and tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Qlik would all be valued. Lloyd's or London Market experience would be a bonus but isn't essential. The business puts real weight on innovation, collaboration, honest feedback and agile, flexible working, so this suits someone creative and commercially curious who enjoys building something new.
