A specialist insurance business is looking to appoint a Senior Claims Adjuster to join its established Construction & Engineering claims team.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced claims professional with a background in CAR/EAR, Engineering and related construction-led losses to take ownership of a technically varied portfolio. The role will involve handling both first-party and third-party matters, working across UK and international claims, and engaging closely with brokers, insureds, adjusters, lawyers, experts, underwriters and wider market stakeholders.
The portfolio is varied and will suit someone who enjoys technical policy analysis, detailed coverage review, negotiation and proactive claims management. You will be trusted to manage cases from initial notification through to resolution, including reserving, investigation, settlement strategy, recovery considerations and accurate file management.
The business is continuing to develop its market position within this class, creating a good platform for someone who wants to be part of a small, experienced team with genuine visibility. For someone with the appetite, there may also be scope to move towards broader responsibility or management over time.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Managing a portfolio of Construction & Engineering claims, including CAR/EAR and related project-based losses
- Handling both first-party damage and third-party liability claims
- Reviewing policy coverage, contract documentation and technical reports to determine claims strategy
- Working with external advisers including loss adjusters, solicitors, engineers, experts, brokers and TPAs
- Setting and reviewing reserves accurately in line with exposure, liability and developing information
- Supporting negotiations and settlements on technically complex matters
- Maintaining strong claims records, data quality and reporting standards
- Contributing to wider improvements across claims processes, service delivery and portfolio insight
- Collaborating with underwriting, risk, finance and senior claims stakeholders where required
Experience required:
- Strong experience handling Construction & Engineering claims, ideally including CAR/EAR
- Exposure to first-party and/or third-party liability claims within this class
- London market, company market or specialty insurance experience would be highly relevant
- Good understanding of construction-related policy wordings, clauses and coverage considerations
- Experience working with brokers, adjusters, lawyers and other external claims parties
- Confident managing technical files, reserves, reporting and stakeholder communication
- Strong written communication, negotiation and file management skills
- A self-motivated, detail-focused approach with the ability to work effectively in a small team
This would suit a technically strong Construction & Engineering claims professional who is looking for a visible role with autonomy, variety and the potential for longer-term progression.
