What are the current skills in demand in catastrophe risk and exposure management? Why do catastrophe risk professionals change jobs? What are their preferred working arrangements? To help us gather insights into the current catastrophe risk and exposure management recruitment market and identify emerging trends, we conducted a survey of over 100 catastrophe risk professionals working in the UK insurance industry.

Catastrophe risk professionals seeking flexibility

Flexible working is the most important benefit for 75% of catastrophe risk professionals when considering job offers, making it by far the number one choice. 96% of them place it in their top three. But are insurers doing enough to cater to their people’s differing needs?

The emergence of new lines of insurance

Professionals are most open to traditional lines of business such as property (16%) and reinsurance (19%) when considering new roles. But with an uncertain business environment driving demand in non-traditional areas like energy (13%), cyber (12%), marine and cargo (9%) and political violence and political risk (9%), could we see these emerging lines attracting more of the talent?
