Job Description

Global Investment Bank is currently searching for an experienced Commodities Product Controller to join their London Energy desk. This role has been created through an internal move with the current incumbent moving to another international office.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Production of the energy desk P&L and balance sheet with effective validation and control. 
  • Key point of contract for Senior Traders within the Commodities business and provide commentary on drivers such as P&L attributions, market changes, new trading activity, and trading strategies.
  • Lead on process improvements to the control infrastructure and improve effectiveness of performance reviews and documentation of new trades.
  • Understand the Price Verification and other Fair Value Adjustment processes and impacts on P&L.
  • Involved in New product approvals and structured transaction reviews.
  • Take a lead role in projects that arise relating to further streamlining of existing systems or assisting in the implement in the introduction of new systems.
  • Shape new procedures and policies for the Product Control environment.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Commodity Products (Physical & Derivatives) – Ideally Energy
  • Currently working as a product controller in an Investment Bank or Commodities Trading House
  • Excellent academic background - minimum of 2:1 Honours degree
  • Proven process improvement skills
  • Strong control mind-set and appreciated of valuation control functions.
